7 Questions with Vinylmation Cutsom Artist Cesar Diaz

Hello Vinylmation fans, we’ve had such an awesome response to our Custom Vinylmation Spotlight that we have had to expand.  So today, we are bring you a 7 Questions Special Edition. Today’s Artist is Cesar Diaz. Cesar has created a lot of vinylmations, so we will be bringing you a follow up edition real soon so we can highlight more of his customs.  Until then we hope you enjoy another edition of the “7 Questions with a Vinylmation Custom Artist”.

1. We’ve seen your Custom Vinylmations on the Internet , what inspires your custom artwork?

What inspires my custom work is the idea of holding something that I created. It’s so much more satisfying knowing that I can hold a vinyl I customized than a digital image or painting. With vinyls you can see the whole 360 degree view of the artist’s hard work.

2. What was the hardest part of creating a custom Vinylmation?

The hardest part for me was finding out the correct materials to use. I started creating customs back in 2009. At first I didn’t know what I was doing. It took some practice and trial and error to finally find my groove. I learn from each vinyl custom I create.

 3. What inspired you to use the Vinylmation canvas and not any other Vinyl canvas?

I think because Vinylmations use that iconic Mickey image that everyone is so familiar with. No matter what characters I use, whether it be Batman or Gandalf, people will always see Mickey as Batman. Plus it’s always a challenge to make good use of the Mickey ears. That’s something unique that other vinyls don’t have.

4. What other customs have you done?

I’ve worked with all types of vinyls, from Munny, Dunny, DIY Androids…etc but Vinylmation will always be my personal favorite.

5. What is next on your list of Customs?

I actually have a huge list of 9″ vinyls I have to create as commission work right now. One of them is Superman and I’m really excited to start creating him.

6. Do you consider yourself more of a Collector or a Customizer?

Three years ago I would have said collector but now I find myself creating more and more of them. So I would say I’m a customizer first and a collector second.

7. Where can Vinylmation fans find you and keep up with your work?
